Section 50
If the ballot paper is lost before the counting is completed
(1) Before the completion of the counting of votes, if the ballot paper, the ballot box containing the ballot paper or the electronic device kept for voting is illegally taken away from the control of the election officer, opened, damaged or vandalized, lost or accidentally lost, the election officer shall suspend the work of counting the votes. The report of the matter should be given to the Commission immediately.
(2) Upon receipt of the report as per sub-section (1), if the commission deems that any investigation should be conducted in relation to such incident, the commissioner or the monitoring team of the commission may be appointed to conduct the investigation.
(3) Based on the report of the commission as per sub-section (1) or the report of the commissioner or the monitoring team assigned to investigate as per sub-section (2), such ballot paper or ballot box has been illegally taken away, opened, damaged, vandalized, lost or accidentally lost from the control of the election officer. And if it is determined that the counting of votes cannot be resumed because of that, all the ballot papers of the polling station affected by such actions will be declared invalid and the voting will be cancelled.
(4) In the polling station where the polling has been canceled by the Commission in accordance with sub-section (3), the election officer shall immediately publish the notice in the polling station specifying the place, date and time of re-voting.
